Sophie is a premature baby (28 weeks) who was born 3 weeks ago. During the past week, she has been experiencing bloody stools, abdominal distension, and poor feeding. Upon physical examination, there is an increase in abdominal size with decreased bowel sounds. An abdominal X-ray reveals asymmetrical bowel loops that are dilated and have bowel wall oedema.
